In the terms of the sale of Clifton Village and surrounding lands as designated by the Act of Parliament between Lt. Col. P.T. Clifton and the Nottingham Corporation in 1957, a covenant was made that ensures the Nottingham Corporation (or its successors) provide a facility for a cricket field, pitches and facilities for the use of Clifton Village Cricket Club established in 1884.
